We have worked closely with our clients to create and implement bespoke Net Zero Asset Plans that meet their carbon emission targets. Our methodology for each Net Zero roadmap is a unique journey to zero carbon buildings. A few of the initiatives we typically deploy are highlighted in our video.
A disused service yard at a Falkirk retail park was transformed into an urban garden, improving biodiversity, occupier health and community links, winning the Property Week’s inaugural Health & Wellbeing Award, and a Scottish Green Apple Award.
Our managed industrial portfolio grew via a new instruction from Paloma Capital with a rent roll of £16m and 330 units across a UK-wide 25-asset industrial and logistics portfolio.
LGIM Real Assets appointed Workman on the Annuity & LPI fund of 34 assets, growing the Workman LGIM mandate to a total of 119 assets since 2019.
Collaborating closely with major retailers to help facilitate their store openings is a vital part of our building surveyors’ retail delivery role. We oversaw the delivery of this H&M store at Eldon Square, showing that shopping centre retail is more resilient than often reported.

We welcomed four new specialists into our ESG team to address your specific priorities, from optimising energy performance for Net Zero, to identifying ways commercial buildings can generate social value.
Developed with input from our Venture Projects team, planning for mixed-use development at Bristol’s 300,000 sq. ft St Mary le Port was granted. The team includes our Hedley Jones as ESG Project Advisor.
Despite the opening and closing of retail, the Activate Destination Marketing team is now driving footfall at more than 4m sq. ft of assets, having attracted 20 new UK retail and leisure schemes in 2021.

As new working and shopping patterns turned investors’ attention to residential assets, the Venture team worked with the likes of Federated Hermes, KKR and Tristan Capital to oversee circa £1bn of residential schemes in the UK, Ireland and Europe.
Venture, Workman’s Project Management team, began the £39.75m transformation of 10 Brindleyplace. With strong emphasis on technology, sustainable design and occupier wellness, the development will create 210,000 sq. ft of high-quality grade A office space.
When Touchwood Shopping Centre was purchased by The Ardent Companies, Workman was appointed to manage the scheme. Through a new asset management initiative, Project Atlanta, Ardent has exciting plans to enhance and transform the 650,000 sq. ft scheme.
Our Building Consultancy team provided pre-acquisition advice on 85 separate transactions across all sectors, with an estimated value of more than £1bn.
Workman’s partnership with the Natural History Museum’s Urban Nature Project (UNP) blossomed in 2021. Our Building Biodiversity campaign, championing urban nature in the built environment, saw a number of clients’ properties implementing innovative biodiversity projects.
Abrdn instructed Workman as property manager on the Barclays Bank UK Retirement Fund, with a total of 26 assets and a capital value of £1bn.
Propelled by a desire for workplace wellbeing as part of wider ESG strategies, the move to active commuting has been embraced by flagship Workman-managed sites such as Glasgow’s Skypark and London’s Republic, which both achieved Cycling Score Platinum certification.
Developed jointly with Bubll Automation, we launched our intelligent building operating system, IBOS, to automate and optimise building systems, making them responsive to levels of occupancy, a key element of any Net Zero strategy.
Brookfield acquired a portfolio of nine major retail assets, and appointed our Retail & Leisure team as property manager. Our managed portfolio grew to 17m sq. ft. of retail parks, making us the second-largest managing agent, as listed by Trevor Wood Associates Guide 2021.
Despite the obvious challenges, our property management teams outperformed the leading industry rent collection benchmark by an average of more than 6 percentage points throughout 2021.
Our Occupier Services offering continued to grow with the launch of our Managed Space service providing a fully outsourced solution for flex occupiers. Over 50 corporate occupiers now benefit from our workplace services for their offices.
